The Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board last week reached a consensus on teacher raises for next year.

The board agreed on a 1.23% increase to the base teacher wage, which is the Consumer Price Index. According to Act 10, CPI is the maximum allowable increase for base wages.

The increase amounts to a $525 raise.

“With the CPI relatively low, it did not take us long to come to an agreement,” Board President Chad Hoopman said.

The raise will become official when the Cedar Grove-Belgium Education Association ratifies it.
