Betty Jane Lewin

Betty Jane Lewin, 90, a former resident of Hingham, died Friday Aug. 24, at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington where she lived for the past two years.

Mrs. Lewin was born in Prentice on Dec. 5, 1927, to William and Elvera Pearson Abraham.

On Nov. 20, 1948, she married Ernst “Ernie” Lewin at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Mr. Lewin preceded her in death on June 10, 2011.

Her family said she was a loving and dedicated wife and mother who worked at Cascade Cheese Factory for many years.

Mrs. Lewin was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran in Adell.

She enjoyed cooking, embroidery, gardening, canning and doing yard work, her family said.

Mrs. Lewin is survived by her siblings Marilyn (Irving) Hennings of Wauwatosa, Bonnie (Bob) Hillmann of Cedarburg, Ferdinand (Betty) Abraham of Oliver; sisters-in-law Ruth (Murray) Heidtke of Grafton and Millie Severson of Appleton;  and brother-in-law Gerald Spiering of Superior.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernst; sons Robert and an infant; brother William (Sandra) Abraham; and sister Clarabell Spiering.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Adell. The Rev. Christopher M. Seifferlein officiated.

Internment was in the church’s cemetery.

Memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Addell are suggested.

Wenig Funeral Home of Oostburg handled the arrangements.
