Betty Jane Hadler

Betty Jane Hadler of Manitowoc, Wis., formerly of Port Washington, Wis., age 96, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc, Wis., after a brief illness.

She was born July 29, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Louis and Herma Matter Hauswirth. She grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School.          

On June 7, 1947 Betty married Warren W. “Dick” Hadler of Grafton, Wis., at Friedens Church in Port Washington.  They lived on Oakland Avenue in Port Washington for many years and in 2003 moved to Belgium.      

Dick preceded her in death on September 7, 2004.  Most recently she lived in Manitowoc.

Betty was involved with the Manitou Council of the Girl Scouts when her daughters were young. She also loved golfing with the Hawthorne Honeys and playing bridge. Most of all Betty loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Wendy (Joe) Misuraco of Manitowoc and Amy (Gary) Maechtle of Crivitiz, Wis.; and seven grandchildren Cara (Trent) Reeve, Leah (Robert) Meyer, Christopher Maechtle, Micca (Craig) Raine, Brad (Heather) Dieringer, Megan Leach and Ryan (Keri) Dieringer.  

Betty is further survived by 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren,  her brother-in-law Ernie Hadler of  Waubeka, Wis., sister-in-law Dorothy Thompson of Grafton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Dick Hadler and son Warren A. Hadler.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington.  

Interment will occur at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg, Wis.  

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
