Benjamin D. Gawrysiak

Benjamin “Benny” D. Gawrysiak 86, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020.  

He was born to John and Helen (nee Stosik) Gawrysiak on May 4, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wis.  

Benny married Janet Farrer on January 30, 1952, in Peterborough, England, and together they had three children.

Benny served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer during the Korean War.  He was stationed in Peterborough, England, where he guarded B-29 aircrafts.

It was in England where he met the love of his life Janet.   

Benny later became a police officer in Milwaukee for the 7th and 4th districts and retired after 32 years of dedicated service.

Benny is survived by his wife Janet; his children Gary (Janet) Gawrysiak, Jonathan (Diane) Gawrysiak and Glenn Gawrysiak; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Lucas John Gawrysiak and his brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Benny will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, Wis.  

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service. Military honors will immediately follow the service.  

He will be laid to rest at Holden East Cemetery.

The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
