Bells of St. Mary’s holding event on Sunday
The Bells of St. Mary’s will present a school bell to Father Jim Weyker for a school in Africa and kick off its capital campaign to fund a memorial for the church’s three bells on Sunday.
The event will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Church.
The school bell will be sent to a new Salvatorian school in Tanzania, where Weyker spent half a century as a missionary.
The church bells, the final remaining relics of St. Mary’s Church — which was closed and is for sale — will be placed in a memorial in the parish cemetery.
