Artist to host exhibits at Gallery 224 in Port

ARTservancy artists Lesley Numbers and Sara Willadsen will be the featured artists at Gallery 224 in Port Washington during March.

A reception for the artists will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13.

Numbers, a Madison-based printmaker, illustrator and educator, specializes in nature-based art and spent her time at Schoofs Preserve in Hartford.

Willadsen, who spent her time at Huiras Lake State Natural Area in Fredonia, is a Sheboygan-based artist who works mainly with paint and collage elements.

Gallery 224 is at 303 N. Franklin St. It is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Willadsen and Numbers will also hold workshops in March at Studio 224 at 211 N. Franklin St.

Numbers will host a workshop in spring ephemera printing at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14.

Those attending will use pre-made printing blocks and stencils to experiment with layering, color and texture while printing on postcards and found papers. Each participant will leave with a collection of small, original prints.

Willadsen will teach a seasonal collage class at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21.

Participants will explore collage as a way to evoke season, atmosphere and place. Working with a variety of papers and materials, they will create original artwork while learning principles of composition, layering and visual storytelling.

Makers & Mixers, a monthly creative session, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 27. Each session explores a different artistic theme, from printmaking and watercolor to paper arts and more.

Participants may bring beverages and snacks. All supplies are included, and space is limited to 15 participants.
