Art Museum to open two exhibits April 30
The Cedarburg Art Museum will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit, “Deeply Rooted: Small Family Farm,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30.
The exhibit of photography by Leslie Witt will run from April 30 through Aug. 2.
In the exhibit, Witte uses her work to examine everyday life on a farm — an exhibit inspired by her upbringing at Cedarburg’s Witte’s Vegetable Farm.
Her photography provides an intimate perspective into agricultural operations that have been long overlooked by the general population, and offers viewers an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the effort it takes to grow the food they enjoy.
“This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collections” will also open on April 30.
The exhibit brings together historic 20th century paintings of local landscapes alongside the winners of the Paint Cedarburg’s Plein Air Competition through the years.
When the museum began in 2013, it received 49 works that started the permanent collection, including the winning paintings from the annual plein air event.
The museum at W63 N675 Washington Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
