Army chaplain is speaker for program
Col. Mark Brooks will discuss his time as a chaplain during a Monday, Feb. 16, meeting of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Military Historian in Grafton.
Brooks, who was a Wisconsin Army National Guard chaplain, began his career with a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
He returned to Wisconsin as a battalion chaplain, rose through the ranks to serve as chaplain for three different Wisconsin Army National Guard brigades, then finished his career as state chaplain. He will retire on Feb. 28.
Brooks deployed in support of several state missions and two training exercises in the Republic of Korea.
His military awards include the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, Wisconsin Emergency Service Ribbon and Combat Action Badge.
Admission is $25, which includes a buffet dinner. A limited number of seats are available for the speaker’s program only for $10.
Doors to the Legion Hall, 1540 13th Ave., open at 5:15 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m.
