Arlene Huiras

Mrs. Arlene Huiras, a longtime resident of Fredonia, passed away surrounded by her loving family in the morning hours of Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her residence.  She was 87 years old.

Arlene was born in Dacada on Jan. 15, 1936, the daughter of Alfred and Eleanor (nee Jacoby) Weiland.

She grew up on her family’s farm in Dacada and attended high school in Port Washington, graduating with the Class of 1954.

On July 10, 1954, she married Harold Huiras at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

The couple lived in Alaska while Harold was stationed there with the U.S. Army and later settled on the Huiras family farm in the Town of Fredonia. Arlene enjoyed life on the farm, working side-by-side with her husband and later her children.

Arlene was a longtime member of Divine Savior Parish (St. Rose of Lima) in Fredonia.

She enjoyed baking, crocheting, gardening, golfing and playing sheepshead with her family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her four children, Debbie Braby of Random Lake, Lori (Mike) Baumann of Fredonia and Thomas (Chrissy) Huiras and Joe (Kandy) Huiras, both of Random Lake, and daughter-in-law Laura (Jeff) Huiras-Thoms of Fredonia.

She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Roger (Helen) Weiland of Menasha, Kenneth (Arleen) Weiland of Belgium and Gerald (Carol) Weiland of Fredonia, one sister, Rosanne (the late William) Biever of  Fredonia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Eleanor Weiland, her husband Harold, her son Robert Huiras and her infant daughter Kathryn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy. B, Belgium.  Father Donald Thimm was to preside over the Mass.

Visitation will take place at the church on Wednesday, March 15, from 3 to 5:45 p.m.

Arlene will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Rose of Lima Parish Cemetery in Fredonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Divine Savior Catholic School in Fredonia or Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.

The Huiras family would like to thank Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and all of her caregivers for their compassion and care of Arlene.
