Arleen L. Mondloch

Arleen L. Mondloch was her family’s biggest cheerleader
She and her husband had seven children, and she made it a priority to be a cheerleader in the stands at their sports events, her son Rick said.
“Every sport we played, she was at,” he said.
She also made sure they attended all their practices, he said.
While Mrs. Mondloch didn’t play sports, she and her husband did enjoy polka dancing and they indulged their passion often.
“They loved dancing,” her son said. “They went dancing all over.”
The couple were such big fans of polka dancing that they taught the dance at the Belgium Community Center, he added.
“That’s where I learned to do it,” he said. “We had to go along.”
Mrs. Mondloch died of complications of cancer Monday, March 26, at her home at Belgium Gardens. She was 88.
Mrs. Mondloch was born in Port Washington on Nov. 2, 1929, to William J. and Gertrude Esselman Burton.
On December 26, 1950, she married Arnold Mondloch of Belgium at Holy Cross Church.
Together, they worked the family’s dairy farm on Sauk Trail in Cedar Grove.
Mrs. Mondloch was known for her homemade bread, her son said.
“She was awesome at that,” he said. “She made eight loaves at a time.”
A spiritual woman, Mrs. Mondloch was a member of the Christian Mothers group at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church and the Belgium American Legion Auxiliary.
After her husband’s death in 1989, Mrs. Mondloch took a job in the factory at Guy & O’Neill in Fredonia.
She was a people person who enjoyed the job because of the social opportunities it presented, her son said.
“She was a very nice, very kind-hearted person,” he said.
She had an infectious laugh that she shared often, her family noted.
Mrs. Mondloch moved to Belgium in 2001, and to Belgium Gardens in 2016.
Mrs. Mondloch is survived by her children Colleen (Roger) Kelling of Cedar Grove, Phyllis (Paul) Check of La Crosse, Cliff (Laurie) and Clyde (Traci), both of West Bend, Joseph (Peggy) of Holiday, Fla., Rick (Kristy) of Appleton, and Al (Krisi) Mondloch of Oostburg; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Vande Boom and great-granddaughter Paula Isabella.
