Antoine honored
The Belgium Village Board on Monday thanked Village Attorney Gerald Antoine for his 37 years of service.
Antoine is retiring, and Monday was his last Village Board meeting.
He was presented with a plaque.
Antoine was born and raised in Belgium and said serving the village has been special.
“This is my hometown. This isn’t just a job,” he said.
Antoine thanked current and past board members, along with village staff members who all have “thankless jobs.”
Most people, he said, don’t know or understand what board and staff members do.
“I appreciate all the support I’ve gotten from all of you,” Antoine said.
Antoine’s partner Brad Hoeft will be taking over in January. They are part of the Antoine, Hoeft and Eberhardt law firm in Port Washington.
