Anthony C. “Tony” Kirst

Anthony C. “Tony” Kirst passed away suddenly at the age of 70 on July 12, 2025, in Port Washington, Wis. 

He was born on March 22, 1955, in Sheboygan, Wis., to his late parents Charles “Chuck” and Rosalia “Sally” Kirst and raised in Grafton, Wis. 

Tony was united in marriage to Bonnie (nee Hetzel) on Oct. 28, 1988. Together, they raised two children, Angela and Alex. 

Tony lived a life filled with laughter, love and kindness, which touched the lives of everyone he met.

For many years, Tony worked at FIS, where he retired with a sense of accomplishment. 

But his true calling came when he became a full-time grandpa to Blake, Reese and Sadie. Tony was a man who could fix anything from a broken toy to a broken heart. He was known for his boundless energy and selflessness, always the first to lend a helping hand, not just to his own family but to countless others. 

His spirit of caregiving extended through his volunteer work and coaching for the Ozaukee County Special Olympics, where he was known to many as “Coach.” 

Tony loved sharing his home and hosting parties with a fully stocked pantry of treats, always making sure everyone’s glass was full and guests were entertained. Anytime you drove past the house, you could find the yard looking remarkable.

He is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie and his two wonderful children, Angela (Nate) Gruber and Alex Kirst. Tony was the proud grandpa of Blake, Reese and Sadie Gruber. Tony was the beloved brother of Charlene (Mike) Karrels, Greg (Teri) Kirst, Kevin (Connie) Kirst, Randy (Charisse) Kirst, Mike Kirst, Mary Kirst and Tim (Wendy) Kirst. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents Charles “Chuck” and Rosalia “Sally” Kirst and his nephew Ryan Kirst.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 1 to 3:45 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 979 N. Green Bay Rd., Grafton, Wis., followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ozaukee County Special Olympics are appreciated.

Tony leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, joy and kindness that will be deeply missed. Though he has left this world, he made sure to fill our hearts with warmth and laughter before he went, leaving an everlasting mark on all who knew him.
