Annual Frebeka 5 to go virtual
The annual Frebeka 5 Run/Walk at Waubedonia Park will be held virtually, organizers have announced.
“Due to continued concerns for the safety of participants and volunteers the Fredonia Lions have decided to make the 2020 Frebeka 5 Run/Walk a virtual run/walk,” the Fredonia Lions Club said in a statement.
The race will still be held Saturday Sept. 19, and participants are asked to run or walk the traditional distances.
Those include five and two-mile runs for adults and a one-mile kids fun run.
There are also two and one-mile walks.
Registration fees are $30 for adults and $15 for children 13 years old and younger.
Proceeds will be donated to Starting Point of Ozaukee County, Blind Outdoor Leisure Development and Fredonia Lions causes.
Organizers will not track times or give out medals or trophies.
Instead, participants will be given prior to the race a “goodie” bag containing a short sleeve T-shirt, designed entry number race bib, safety whistle, LED head flashlight and sponsors sheet.
Participants may choose where, when and how they will walk or run. They can also post a “selfie” wearing their 2020 Frebeka 5 T-shirt and bib on the Fredonia Lions Facebook page.
Race participants can register online at runsignup.com/Race/WI/Fredonia/Frebeka5FamilyHealthChallenge.
