Allan Peter Risseeuw

Allan Peter Risseeuw of Cedar Grove passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Pine Haven in Sheboygan Falls, leaving behind a legacy rooted in faith, service and deep love for his family.

Allan was born on Dec. 3, 1934, to Herbert and Florence (Meerdink) Risseeuw. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1952.

On Sept. 21,1963, he married Julia (Judy) DeSmith. Judy preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2007.

After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years. He was stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany.

He was employed at his father’s farm, Cedar Grove Block and Construction and Bolens/Troy Built in Port Washington. When Bolens closed, he worked briefly at Molded Dimensions and then Fireworks Popcorn before his retirement.

Allan was a charter member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove. He served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent and on the outreach committee. He also was on the United Fund board for several years. He was the secretary for the Men’s Goodfellowship Bowling League for many years.

He enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers. In his early years he loved playing baseball, softball and basketball, bowling and playing golf. He was a supporter of many Rockets sporting events. He also served on the Cedar Grove Fire Department for 36 years. He enjoyed meeting people and talking to people at Homefront, Miller’s Glen and his favorite, Schwartz’s. Allan loved his family, loved life and used the gifts God gave him for others.

Allan is survived by his daughter Jodi (Mark) VanEss; sons James (Tammy), Jason (Lisa) and Jonathan (Holly); grandchildren Andrew and Katie VanEss, Alex VanEss, Morgan (Trevor) Arnoldi, Sara Risseeuw, Joshua and Samuel Risseeuw and Catherine, Jackson and Caroline Risseeuw; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Lydia VanEss and Julia Arnoldi.

He is further survived by his two sisters, Margaret Smies and Dorothy Bevans, sister-in-law Donna DeSmith and many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Julia, brother LaMont (Marilyn) Risseeuw, brothers-in-law John Smies and Robert Bevans, sister-in-law Delores (Paul) Harmeling and brothers-in-law Eugene (Elizabeth), Robert (Mary), Audley (Harriet), Roger (Muriel) and Gary DeSmith.

A funeral service to celebrate Allan’s life will be held at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Monday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the service. A visitation will also  be held on Sunday, Aug. 2, at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 3 until 6 p.m. A livestream of the service can be viewed by visiting Allan’s obituary page at wenigfh.com.

He will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery next to Julia.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Allan’s name for Campus Life Family Center.
