Aliens, towers and zombies, oh my

The Cedar Grove-Belgium School District’s first session of summer school provided a variety of activities and skills for all ages. Clockwise from right, second-grader Reid Meinen took his hands off of a Lego tower after adding a piece as classmate Xander Smith watched. The students enjoyed building structures, then knocking them down and rebuilding them in Lego City class. Sixth-grader Katrina Dulnes created a picture of aliens at Area 51 as part of an art class’ galaxy theme. “Mine’s a little weird,” Dulnes said. Second-grader Jackson Holman created a scene of a man running and hiding “because there’s a zombie apocalypse.” Fifth-grader Laney Schneider (left) and sixth-grader Vera Minor worked on music-themed art projects. Teacher Melissa Ackley said themes for the art class were bees, galaxies and music with students using a variety of supplies to create original works. The class even taste tested honey.
