Alan W. Sadowsky
Alan W. Sadowsky of Fredonia was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at the age of 70.
He was born in Milwaukee to Walter and Myrtle Sadowsky on Dec. 4, 1952.
Al graduated from Concordia High School and went on to earn a degree from Concordia College. During high school and college, Al enjoyed tennis, cross country, track and golf.
He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sara Mittelsteadt, on June 5, 1976.
While he and Sara were married, the couple enjoyed traveling and taking golf trips. In 1985, they had a son, Luke, and would bring him along on the golf course and trips around the country.
Al worked at Leeson Electric in Grafton from 1975 to 2003. He began his career as a die caster and worked his way up to purchasing manager. Al helped start the Leeson Electric Credit Union during his employment there. He also worked at SPI Lighting Group in Mequon and retired from Federal Tool in 2013.
During this time, Al loved running golf leagues, playing cribbage and bowling.
He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton and taught Sunday school. Al held various positions and responsibilities at St. John Lutheran in Fredonia. He was also very active in the Northern Ozaukee Schools Scholarship Foundation.
Al was a part-time coach for Luke’s YMCA basketball teams, going undefeated in the two games he coached. Unfortunately, Al’s activities were curtailed as he battled health issues.
In retirement, Al enjoyed golfing as long as he could and watching the Packers, Bucks, Brewers and golf, but above all he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and granddog.
Al will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, warm laughter and great hugs. His family and friends are also thankful for all the delicious meals and recipes he shared during his life.
Although he never had a hole-in-one, some of his most cherished memories were from the years he played at Squires Country Club in Port Washington with family and friends.
Al’s memory will be treasured by his wife Sara, his son Luke (Angela) Sadowsky, his grandchildren Abigail and Isaiah and his sister Joyce (Bruce) Myers. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers Robert and Richard and sisters Joan Laabs, Janet Daute and Lois Kroeger.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia, WI 53021. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Al will be laid to rest at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. John Lutheran Church in Fredonia or the Northern Ozaukee Schools Scholarship Foundation.
Al’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Grafton for all their care, support and patience.
