‘Tell Me a Story’ is exhibit at Port gallery

“Tell Me a Story” is the theme for the latest exhibit at Gallery 224 in downtown Port Washington.

The exhibit, which runs through Dec. 28, includes works from the ARTservancy Committee and ARTservancy alumni that highlight the power of art to reflect, connect  and inspire.

The featured artists include Chris Hewitt, Risë Andersen, Victoria Tasch, Vicki Reed, Berel Lutsky, Barbara Manger, Craig Grabhorn and Cynthia Lorenz.

An artists’ reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Light refreshments will be served.

Two local artists are being highlighted in the gallery’s Community Artist space.

Kathryn Woods creates expressive acrylic works full of color and movement while Brian Stuart offers paintings grounded in his passion for “painting reality as we see it” as well as custom portraits of pets and people.

The gallery at 303 N. Franklin St. is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

Studio 224 at 211 N. Franklin St. is offering several workshops.

Winter nature prints will be explored by Tori Tasch from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. The session will include information on positive and negative print making and the use of the hand cranked monoprint press. 

The fee is $50.

“Photograms: A Photography Open Studio” will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. The fee is $20.

Polyester plate lithography will be taught by Berle Lutsky from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 10 and 11.

Lutsky and those participating will create lithograph prints on paper. Using a ballpoint pen or Sharpie, plates can be imaged with a laser printer to combine image and hand drawing. 

The cost is $150.
