‘Aladdin Jr.’ to be staged in Port on April 26, 27


ARABIAN NIGHTS will be experienced at Port Washington High School this weekend as Port Youth Theatre presents “Aladdin Jr.” The musical, which will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, stars Gavin Muller as Aladdin, Molly Pashak as the Genie and Caitlin Luib as Princess Jasmine. Port Youth Theatre will perform the popular musical, “Aladdin, Jr.”, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, in the Port Washington High School auditorium. 

The show lasts about 90 minutes and includes a 15 minute intermission.

The musical is based on the Academy Award-winning film and hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within.

Aladdin, played by Gavin Muller, and his friends Babkak, Omar and Kassim, played by Matthew McCaman, Ben Falkenberg and  David Pionek, respectively, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie, aka Molly Pashak, who has the power to grant three wishes. 

Wanting to earn the respect of the princess Jasmine, played by Caitlin Luib, but threatened by the evil Jafar, played by Roman Cira and Iago, portrayed by Alina Lisowski, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

The musical features the songs “Arabian Nights,” “A Whole New World,” “Friend Like Me,” “Prince Ali,” “One Jump” “Babkak, Omar and Kassim” and “High Adventure.”

The cast includes Ava Arndt, Max Ball, Annabella Batesole, Noah Batesole, Bridget Bryan, Katja Cira, Alliyah Cline, Kiley Cline, Amanda Crass, Adeline Dahl, Reagan Dahl, Zachary Falkenberg, Eden Feld, Oliver Feld, Madeline Feld, Abigail Fritsch, Sydney Garthus, Lidia Gerloff, Simon Gilhooly, Rafi Gonzalez, Rosalie Grover, Julianne Huber, Harper Jackson, Alexis Jobs, Avery Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Hailey Kane, Tienna Lambrecht, Rylie Last, Oliver Laun, Taylor Maechtle, Lillian Merow, Nora Merow, Avery Newell, Sophie Newell, Finn Pashak, Elaina Perez, Abigail Rowley, Josephine Ryder, Claudia Ryder, Ava Sand, Hannah Sand, Isabella Schmitz, Ava Schnappup, Payton Schowalter, Lucas Seitz, Macy Smith, Ella Spankowski, Evan Spankowski, Lincoln Steele, Kristi Stewart, Grayson Suppiger, Madelyn Szolwinski, Josie Turner, Hayden Vanden Heuvel, Sydney White, Serena Wise and Gabriel Zweck.

The show is directed by Diana Neumeyer with Mary Van Pietersom as the vocal director and Laura Cashin and Dana Tremelling as choreographers. 

Lindzy Willborn is the stage manager and Matthew O’Donnell is the assistant stage manager. The stage crew is comprised of Claire Ball, Dana Tremelling, Joe D’Acquisto  Miranda Larsson, Wylan Boyle, Connor Tremelling and Shannon Knowski.

Chris Clouthier is the light and sound designer with the assistance of Darian Drewitz, Zack Gephart and Katie Wagner.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Department and Drew’s True Value in Port Washington or at the door.
