‘The Librarians’ to be shown in Port April 23
The PBS documentary “The Librarians” will be shown in Port Washington on Thursday, April 23.
The film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. at Inventors Brewpub, followed by a panel discussion featuring Ozaukee County’s five library directors — Tom Carson of Port Washington, Emily Laws of Saukville, Amanda Kloppmann of Grafton, Anthony Sigismondi of Cedarburg and Rachel Muchin-Young of Mequon.
The documentary is about how restrictions by lawmakers on library content — frequently content that is race-related and related to LGBTQIA+ issues, are shaping communities across the country and the role librarians play in that battle.
Drawing on historical context, “The Librarians,” directed by Kim Snyder, explores the broader implications for education and public life.
The showing is sponsored by the county’s libraries.
