Youth Ministry to serve holiday meals Nov. 27

Port Washington Saukville Ecumenical Youth Ministry is sponsoring a breakfast, lunch and dinner on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27, at two Saukville churches and one in Port Washington.

Money raised will go to support the newly formed ministry, designed for youth in grades 6 through 12 to help them “connect with God and with each other,” according to the group’s web site.

The ministry is independent, non-profit and non-denominational and sponsored by five local churches: Living Hope Lutheran Church, Saukville; Parkside Community United Church of Christ, Saukville; Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Port Washington; First Congregational UCC, Port Washington, and Christ the King Lutheran Church, Port Washington.

Breakfast will be served from 6 to 9 a.m. at Living Hope Lutheran and will include to-go orders of breakfast sandwiches of Canadian bacon, cheese, and egg on a croissant or muffin, fruit and coffee, milk or juice. Dine-in options include pancakes, egg bake, breakfast sausage, fruit and beverage.

Breakfast to-go tickets are $5 in advance or  $8 at the door​. Dine-in breakfast tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Children 2 to 10 are half price; children younger than 2 are free.

​Lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parkside Community UCC.

To-go or dine-in options includes soups and salads.

 After breakfast and lunch there will be a craft and poinsettia sale.

​Dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. at Grand Avenue UMC in Port Washington.

The dine-in only menu includes spaghetti and salad. A $20 donation per dinner is suggested.

​A silent auction ​will follow.

Thrivent Financial will provide a matching grant of $1 for every $2 donated on Nov. 27 until 11:59 p.m., up to $10,000.

​Tickets can be purchased at any of the sponsoring churches and at Here We Grow Preschool in Saukville.

The group’s fundraising goal is $25,000.

Giving Tuesday, or #GivingTuesday, is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It was created in 2012 as an international day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season and in response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season.
