YOUR PIX: Urban coyote in her Port Washington neighborhood

The Valley Creek ravine is home to its namesake waterway, a stretch of the Ozaukee Interurban trail and a population of wildlife that thrives in the forested corridor in the City of Port Washington. Allen Block photographed one of the Valley Creek residents on an early morning walk. “A Valley Creek coyote emerged into the not-quite-light of May 14,” he wrote. “It was cold this night. Though a summer coat will be hers soon, a winter coat must have still felt good. She was well suited for the 5 a.m. temperature.” Coyotes are rather numerous in the Port Washington area, but very shy, making Allen’s photo quite remarkable.
