Work begins at Inventors Brewpub site

Preliminary work on the north marina slip parking lot in Port Washington began this week as the pavement was scraped up in preparation for construction of the new Inventors Brewpub. The work has not impacted vehicle traffic, but the sidewalks on the north and south sides of the lot, as well as the north end of the harborwalk that runs along the west end of the north slip where it meets Washington Street, have been blocked by barricades and caution tape. The work marks the end of a contentious fight over whether the parking lot should be developed and the beginning of a new chapter for the brewpub, which is currently located in the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Hall on Lake Street. Construction of the building, which will include a brewery, restaurant and event space, is expected to take much of the year. Photo by Bill Schanen IV
