Grafton High School alumni Fred Timm Jr. and Justin Delorit are the newest additions to the school’s Hall of Fame.

Timm, a retired pediatrician, and Delorit, an assistant professor of engineering management at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, were honored during an induction ceremony Friday, Feb. 7, in the school’s media center.

“It was almost surreal, and I am humbled by the honor,” Timm said.

Timm graduated from Grafton High in 1971, earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He retired in 2017 but continues practicing medicine through mission trips in impoverished countries like Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Mexico.

Delorit, a member of the Class of 2001, received an academic scholarship from the U.S. Air Force and earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2005. He has a master of science degree in engineering management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.

In 2018, Delorit earned a doctorate of philosophy in civil and environmental management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“Grafton High School, through academics and activities, gave me the tools to tackle the rigors of college,” Delorit said. “I think the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education I received was great, and it motivated me to pursue a career in engineering and science.”

Timm also credits the education he received at Grafton High for leading him to his career as a pediatrician and noted the school was where he met his sweetheart Christine, who became his wife.

“Grafton High School was very good with offering me the courses that I needed to study medicine,” Timm said, noting that though his practice was in Wauwatosa, he remained a Grafton resident so his two children could attend local schools.

“I’ve never had a second thought about the Grafton school system,” he said.

While in high school, Delorit was a two-time swim team captain and worked for the Grafton Parks and Recreation Department as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. He was also involved in Amnesty International and attended Badger Boys State.

Timm played baseball in high school for four years and was a member of the football and golf teams for two years.

Both men were National Honor Society students.

During his induction speech, Timm said not every graduate needs to be named to the Hall of Fame to be considered a successful alumnus.

“It’s more about having a legacy of service in the community and helping others,” he said.
