We Energies cookie book to be distributed in Port
The annual We Energies cookie book will be distributed in Port Washington from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4.
The book can be picked up at the utility’s facility at 700 Sunset Rd. It will be a drive-through event, and those picking up copies are asked to wear masks.
This year’s book features recipes for cookies that reminded veterans and active service members of home.
It also includes special sections from Wisconsin’s 128th Air Refueling Wing and other organizations that support our troops.
Christy Schultz, a U.S. Army veteran who was deployed during Operation Desert Storm, said her mom would send tins of homemade cookies and “Mom’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies,” was a squad favorite.
“Unfortunately, the cookies often times were no match for military transport and the hot desert sun. We would open up the tin to find our cookies to be melted crumbs. They were still delicious and my squad and I appreciated every last morsel,” Schultz said.
The book is also available online at www.we-energies.com/recipes.
This is the 93rd anniversary of the first We Energies Cookie Book, which began as a way to promote electric appliances in 1928.
In 2020, the utility distributed cookie books to nearly 200,000 customers.
