Volunteers needed at Cedarburg Bog

Volunteers are being sought to help the Friends of Cedarburg Bog with work sessions in November and December.

The sessions will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Nov.  5 and 12 and Dec. 3.

Volunteers should meet at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Field Station, 3095  Blue Goose Rd. in the Town of Saukville.

Work will be done on publicly accessible areas of the Cedarburg Bog and in the Field Station’s Beechwoods State Natural Area.

Workers will pull Oriental bittersweet growing in the hilly Field Station upland forest, cut and apply herbicide to invasive shrubs along the meadow trail at the north end of the bog and invasive shrubs at the Mud Lake entrance on Cedar Sauk Road.
