Village waives shelter fee for nonprofit group
While the Village of Belgium’s park shelter fees are usually only waived for local nonprofit organizations, the Village Board made an exception on Monday.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society wants to use the Heritage Park shelter as a stop on its Scenic Shore 150 bike ride Sept. 18 and asked the village to waive the fee.
Public Works Director Dan Birenbaum said he saw the group use Lake Church as a stop before.
“They stop at refreshment tables for fruit and juice, and off they go,” he said. “They’re maybe there two minutes at the most.”
The board voted unanimously to waive the fee.
