Village, town candidate forums set for Saturday
Candidate forums for the Town and Village boards of Fredonia will be held Saturday, March 7.
The Mid-Moraine Municipal Association is holding the Village Board forum from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fredonia Government Center.
Four people are running for three seats in the April 7 general election. They are incumbents Richard Abegglen and Jessica Franck, as well as newcomers Anne Redmond and former trustee Rudy McCormick. Terms are for two years.
In a separate special election, former trustee Bruce Paape and Eric Stowe, who ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign against Peter Lenz in a race for village president last April, are running to fill the seat of Don Dohrwardt, who resigned last fall. That term expires in 2027.
The public may submit questions ahead of time by emailing moraine@charter.net.
The Waubeka Historic District is holding the Town Board candidate forum from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Fredonia Government Center.
Four candidates are running for two open seats on the Town Board in the April 7 election. They are incumbent John Depies, newcomers Eric Schmitz and Kandy Huiras and former supervisor Matt Miller.
Candidates will answer written questions that have been prepared in advance, and if time allows additional questions will be taken from the audience.
All questions will be kept confidential, and candidates will not have access to them prior to the forum.
