Village OKs $5M contract, rolls out plans for roadwork
An informational meeting on the Village of Grafton’s street projects for this year will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Village Hall.
The Village Board on Monday approved a $5 million contract with Dorner Inc. of Luxemburg for the projects.
The contract was recommended last week by the Board of Public Works, with member and Trustee Lisa Uribe Harbeck dissenting.
Uribe Harbeck said she was concerned about issues Dorner had with some homeowners when it conducted street work last year.
Dorner submitted the low bid from a field of three contractors. PTS Contractors of Green Bay bid $5.5 million and Vinton Construction Co. of Two Rivers bid $5.6 million.
Last year, the village spent $3.2 million on street improvement projects.
This summer, the village is slated to rebuild 11th Avenue from Hickory Street to the south end of the road; 17th Avenue from 200 feet south of Valley Drive to Falls Road; Arapaho Avenue from Cypress Drive to about 1520 Arapaho Ave.; Arapaho Court; Blackhawk Drive from Falls Road to Cypress Drive; Cypress Drive from Pine Street to Blackhawk Drive; Cypress Court; Chateau Drive from First Avenue to Wisconsin Avenue; Linden Court; Linden Street from Pine Court to Blackhawk Drive; and Meadowbrooke Court.
Many of the so-called neighborhood streets will be narrowed to 32 feet as part of the project, Public Works Director Amber Thomas told the board.
There will be no cost or special assessments to property owners for the street improvements.
During Thursday’s meeting, the schedule for work on each street, what to expect for tree removals, locations of temporary mailboxes and details for temporary water service (where applicable) will be discussed. After a short presentation, Village staff will be available to answer questions and plans will be available for view and discussion.
