Village to flush fire hydrants next week

The Saukville Village Water Department will be flushing hydrants throughout the village next week.

Flushing will be done from Monday, May 2 to Thursday, May 5 between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Flushing will resume on May 9 and continue to May 12, if necessary.

Water may be discolored during these times. The discoloration is the result of iron and is not harmful.

Village officials reccomend that laundry not be done during the flushing times because discolored water may stain clothes.

If laundry is done during the flushing period and it has a reddish appearance, do not dry; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration.

Running faucets for a short period of time after flushing is completed should clear the lines.

Some may wish to bottle water for drinking or cooking prior to the flushing dates.
