Village finalizes $546,118 deal for new fire truck
The Fredonia Village Board recently voted to buy a new fire truck for its fire department for $546,118.
The fire department will pay $80,000 down on the Pierce Enforcer Pumper and make payments of $68,299 per year over the next two years.
After that, the debt for the reconstruction of Fredonia Avenue will be retired so the remaining six payments for the truck will be absorbed into the village’s debt service, paying it off after a total of eight years.
After that, the department will need to replace two more trucks within the next 10 years, Fire Chief Brian Weyker said.
The cost to replace both those trucks will likely be around $1.75 million, Weyker said.
The new truck replaces a 1994 model that Weyker said has no trade-in value and will likely only fetch about $25,000 at auction.
The purchase of the new truck was approved unanimously pending review of the lease documents by the village attorney.
