Urnesses are part of couples art show in Plymouth

Don and Eileen Urness of Cedar Grove are one of eight couples in “A Couple’s Winter Blast” exhibit at the Plymouth Arts Center.

The Urnesses run Old Town Hall Studio and Gallery in Belgium, and Don teaches art at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

The exhibit includes painting, jewelry, pottery, wrought iron, woodworking, sculpture and handmade purses.

Don works with handmade paper and Eileen works with polymer clay environments.

“With the current situation it is very hard to find places to showcase new work. Eileen is showing her first ever lit pieces, which include lights incorporated into the environments. The environments also include glow in the dark features so after the lights go out some elements continue to glow. They were a big hit at the opening,” Don said.

“Along with my usual landscapes I have also taken a new direction on one of my pieces which is actually a return to some of the concerns of my early works.”

The exhibit is on display through March 5.

The Plymouth Arts Center is at 520 E. Mill St., Plymouth. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
