Three 2022 graduates of Ozaukee High School were seriously injured in an Aug. 22 all-terrain vehicle accident near the 1600 block of Meadowlark Road.

The three women — Paige Pierson, Maria Nehls and Madalyn Gaulke — were enjoying the summer night with an ATV ride when the  driver experienced difficulties navigating a turn onto a residental driveway, according to Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office Captain Marshall Hermann. The ATV traveled into a wooded area, stuck multiple trees and rolled over, throwing the three occupants from the vehicle.

Saukville and Fredonia Fire Departments   transported two of the women to Froedtert Hospital’s Adult Level One Trauma Center in Wauwatosa while Waubeka sent the third woman to an Aurora Medical Center, according to Saukville Fire Chief Bill Rice and Waubeka Fire Department Administrator Dennis Rathke.

The women were awake and alert when first responders arrived. First responders noted there was significant bleeding as a result of the accident.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at approximately 8:15 p.m., Hermann said.
