Thomas Schroeder

 

Thomas E. Schroeder, 72, of Malone, and formerly of Port Washington, died of complications of cancer Friday, Nov. 30, at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Mr. Schroeder was born in Port Washington on Aug. 5, 1946, to Eugene and Marcella Samz Schroeder.  

He grew up in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1965, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

He then worked as a driver for Heider & Bott in Milwaukee. He retired in 2008 after 30 years on the job and moved to Malone.  

His family said he was an avid fisherman and hunter who spent countless hours on the water and in the woods. His favorite fishing spot was Lake Winnebago, and he loved hunting near Prentice. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and spending time with his grandsons

Mr. Schroeder was a member of the Teamsters Union as well as the Landt-Thiel American Legion Post 470.

Mr. Schroeder is survived by his daughter Jessica (Jim) Winnemuller of Saukville  and grandsons Peter and Mitchell Poull.

He is further survived by sister Kathy (Jim) Fick of West Bend and brother Jerry (Sue) Schroeder of Grafton.  

Mr. Schroeder was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was to be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Landt-Thiel American Legion Hall in Saukville, followed by military honors.  

The family will host a gathering at the hall from 4 to 6 p.m.

Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is handling the arrangements.
