Suzanne Consolo
Suzanne M. Consolo, 78, a long-time Port Washington resident, died of complications of an illness Friday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
Mrs. Consolo was born in Port Washington on Jan. 8, 1941, to Gregory and Elsie Binsfeld Weyker. She graduated from Port Washington High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army.
She served in special communications from 1962 to 1966.
While stationed at White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico, she met Thomas Consolo. The couple married on Aug. 2, 1963.
After her service in the Army, Mrs. Consolo spent the rest of her career in the nursing field.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Her family said she will be remembered as a compassionate, gentle and kind person with a big heart who loved her family and friends and greeted everyone she met with a big smile.
Mrs. Consolo is survived by her husband Thomas of Appleton; children Mary Zito of Appleton, Bob of Rhinelander and Tina Vollmer of Marinette; grandchildren Katie (Craig) Keil, Brooke Consolo, Alicia Anderson, Becky Hanson and Thomas and John Allen; and five great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by siblings Rosemary (George) Kobylinski of Sheboygan, Donna (Matt) Smith and James Weyker, both of Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law John and Alba Frattini Consolo; brother Greg; sister-in-law Mary Hennessey and brother-in-law Anthony Consolo.
The family said there will be a funeral Mass at a later date.
Brettschneider Frettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel in Appleton is handling the arrangements.
