Summer activities to be held at Riveredge
A variety of late summer activities, including kayak outings, geocaching and healthy cooking classes, are planned at Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville.
Kayak outings will be held on Sept. 14, 18 and 25.
The Sept. 14 session will be from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning on the Milwaukee River in Thiensville; the Sept. 18 session from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Newburg and the Sept. 25 session in Fredonia from 5 to 8 p.m.
Those attending will get a short orientation and introduction to the kayaks, paddles and life jackets that are provided, then follow guides onto the water.
The sessions are for people ages 10 and older.
The fee is $30 to $40 for Riveredge members and $40 to $50 for nonmembers.
A cooking class focused on making vegetable frittatas will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The class is intended for adults and children ages 12 and older.
A geocaching day for Boy and Girl Scouts will be held Saturday, Sept. 21.
Geocaching combines navigational skills, hiking and a mysterious scavenger hunt challenge, and Scout troops are invited to participate in sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the level of difficulty adapted to each age group.
The fee is $8 per Scout. Supervising adults attend free, and one adult is needed for every four Scouts.
A listening session to discuss renovations to the visitor center will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at The Fermentorium in the Town of Cedarburg.
Light appetizers will be served as detailed information, including floor plans and renderings from HGA Architects, are presented.
The session is free, and beverages will be available for purchase.
Tours of the sturgeon trailer will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.
A goldenrod and aster identification session with Zach Kron will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
Nature Tots sessions will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, and Wednesday, Sept. 18.
A floral design workshop will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.
