Serving spaghetti, collecting toys for Christmas

With just one gift in their truck, Waubeka firefighter Fred Ringle (left) and Chief Jason Caswell had plenty of room for all the other toys they will collect at the department’s annual Italian Family Dinner Night on Sunday, Nov. 13, and donate to Kapco’s Kids2Kids Christmas. While the department has traditionally donated a portion of the dinner proceeds to the Grafton company’s effort to distribute donated toys to children from families in need, this year it is asking those who attend the dinner to bring new and unwrapped toys, although cash donations will also be accepted. Every toy earns the donor a chance to win a drawing for a $100 cash card. The dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bailey Hall, formerly the Waubeka Fire Hall, at 4121 Center St. in Waubeka. Advance tickets are $14 for adults and $8 for children ages 4 to 8 and can be purchased from members of the department or at Big Joe’s. Dinner for children age 4 and younger is free. Tickets at the door are $17. The department will load up its fire trucks and deliver the toys to Kapco during the Kids2Kids First Responder Night on Dec. 10. Photo by Sam Arendt
