Service to be held for longtime Judge Joseph McCormack

A celebration of the life of Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Joseph McCormack will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19.
The celebration will be at the Ozaukee County pavilion at the fairgrounds in Cedarburg.
Mr. McCormack died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease at Lawlis Hospice in Mequon on Wednesday, Oct. 19. He was 79.
A true public servant, Mr. McCormack started his career as a social worker, then fulfilled a dream by attending Marquette University Law School and earning his law degree.
He then became an assistant district attorney in Ozaukee County, later becoming the county’s corporation counsel and, when the third circuit court branch was creating in 1978, he was elected to that position — a job he held for more than 30 years.
Mr. McCormack also served as the county’s chief judge for a number of years before retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Wisconsin State and Ozaukee County bar associations, as well as the Ozaukee County Jail Literacy Advisory Board and the Grafton Lions Club.
A complete obituary for Mr. McCormack was published in the Oct. 31, 2019, edition of Ozaukee Press.
