Saukville man killed, grandson critically hurt in Sunday crash

A 61-year-old Saukville man was killed and his 12-year-old grandson seriously injured when a pickup truck turned in front of their vehicle and collided with it on Highway 67 in the Town of Plymouth Sunday afternoon.

Michael P. Murphy was declared dead at the scene of the crash, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy was flown by a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

A Port Washington Soccer Club email sent to members Monday identified the boy as a player on one of their teams and the grandson of Murphy. He is in critical condition, according to the email.

Authorities have identified the 53-year-old driver of the pickup truck only as a Plymouth resident and said that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Murphy was driving his 2014 Hyundai SUV east on Highway 67 when at 1:10 p.m. the 2016 GMC pickup truck, which was traveling west on Highway 67, attempted to turn south onto County Road S and collided with the Hyundai, according to the sheriff’s office.
