The library’s adult book club will discuss “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.

The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions — honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love — but for Victoria Jones, it’s been more useful in communicating mistrust and solitude. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, she is unable to get close to anybody and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings. Now 18 and with nowhere to go, Victoria realizes she has a gift for helping others through the flowers she chooses for them. But an unexpected encounter with a mysterious stranger has her questioning what’s been missing in her life. And when she’s forced to confront a painful secret from her past, she must decide whether it’s worth risking everything for a second chance at happiness.

Copies of the book are available at the library.

“How Gratitude Can Help Your Health” will be discussed by Ozaukee County community nurse educator Kelly Barboza from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 20.

Those attending will learn how incorporating a daily gratitude practice can enhance sleep, strengthen your immune system, and reduce the risk of disease.

“Step Inside the Movie: The Wizard of Oz” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. March 27.

Participants are invited to skip along to “The Wizard of Oz” during the event.  Those attending will receive a list of prompts and a goody bag packed with props to help bring the movie to life.

Costumes are encouraged.

“Financial Wise: Credit Scores” will be discussed by a staff member from Kohler Credit Union from 5 to 6 p.m. March 28.

Credit scores are important because they make it easier and cheaper to borrow money.
