Robert A. Wenninger

Robert Wenninger of Fredonia passed away at his residence Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2020, while surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old.
Robert was born in Slinger on Aug. 7, 1939, the son of Clarence and Loretta Reinders Wenninger.
He attended Boys Technical High School in Milwaukee and graduated with the Class of 1958. After serving in the U.S. Army, Bob attended Marquette University.
On Oct. 1, 1960, Bob was united in marriage with Mary Hanrahan in Milwaukee. The couple moved to the house Bob built in the Town of Fredonia in 1967 and raised their four daughters.
Mr. Wenninger designed and built production machines. He started Wenninger Service from his home and retired in 2009.
Bob was a member of Divine Savior Parish. He enjoyed hiking in the woods near his home, birdwatching and traveling, especially to different national parks. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead and eucher.
He is survived by his daughters Terese (Will) Wenninger-Santos of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Christine Witters of Belgium and Catherine Wenninger of Sheboygan Falls; eight grandchildren, Shane, Chad, Brittany, Elizabeth, Brian, Jacob, Sara and Jared; brother Richard (Rosemary) Wenninger of Franklin; son-in-law Randy Merkes of Fond du Lac; and aunts Mary Jane Sternat of Allenton and Beatrice Reinders of Milwaukee.
He is further survived by his very special friend Mary Lynn Palzkill and their canine friend Molly.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Lynette Merkes, former wife Mary Wenninger and his parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy. B, Belgium.
Father Gideon Buya will preside.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from noon until the service.
Memorials, if desired, are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
