Riveredge to host picnic, club, activities

A new “Cooped Up Naturalist” program will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22. People may drop in any time during the program.

The free program is based on the premise that a naturalist has been in the coop building near Farm Pond and is looking for curious folks to listen to all he has learned about the landscape around him.

The program will allow those attending to explore seasonal nature objects  such as pelts, bones, stones, dried plants, seeds and branches, check out an ID book for the hike and have questions about nature answered.

The annual Riveredge member meeting and volunteer recognition picnic will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25.

There will be a brief membership meeting at 5 p.m., followed by a picnic dinner and social at 5:30 p.m.

Advance registration is requested and may be done at riveredgenaturecenter.org.

Volunteers are being sought for the butterfly and dragonfly counts to be done from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29  .

Volunteers can participate in the count for all or part of the day.
