Riveredge to hold tree climbing, bird walk

Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville has a variety of activities scheduled for the coming week.

An open tree climbing program will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24, for youths and adults ages 7 and older who have little to no tree climbing skills.

All equipment is supplied. Participants should wear  loose clothing such as T-shirts and long pants, closed-toe shoes, preferably with hard soles and garden gloves.

Advance registration is required.

The fee is $22 for All Access members, $28 for Trail Pass members and $38 for non members.

“Tea & Topics” will discuss Aldo Leopold in an online program from 10 to 11 a.m.  Tuesday, April 27.

“AFIELD, Portraits of Wisconsin Naturalists, Empowering Leopold’s Legacy” will be discussed by Sumner Matteson, who has recorded the stories of Wisconsin field biologists, ecologists, conservation biologists and land stewards.

The Riveredge Photo Club will meet online from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27.

A Friday morning bird walk with veteran birder Paul Boyer will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. April 30.

The walks take place rain or shine, with participants meeting in front of the Visitor’s Center.

Masks are required indoors and social distancing will be maintained between parties and family groups.

The walks are free for members and $5  for nonmembers.
