Richard Zeibell

Richard A. Ziebell, 57, of Port Washington, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 21. He was 57.

Mr. Ziebell, was born in Milwaukee on July 5, 1961, to Harry and Marguerite Slupinski Ziebell.They moved to Grafton when he was in the sixth grade.

He graduated from Grafton High School in 1979 and was a first-team all-state basketball player his senior year.

After high school he lived in Thiensville for about 15 years. The last couple years, he lived in Port Washington.

Mr. Ziebell graduated from Waukesha Technical College in 2004 and became a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. He worked at various counseling centers in the area, predominately with the former

Arrow Counseling Services of Grafton. More recently he worked in shipping and receiving at Shopko in Grafton.

Mr. Ziebell loved sports from his youth, playing against his older brothers. He was a fan of local professional teams and followed his son’s athletic career playing for local high school teams. He also coached his son Nick’s youth sports teams.

Mr. Ziebell is survived by his children Nick (Tiffani Iwanski) of Minneapolis, Abbey (Matt) Miller of Hudson, Ryan and Jake; his brothers Steve (Bethany) of Port Washington, and Mike (Renee) of Spring Valley, Ill.; sister-in-law Connie Ziebell of Kewaskum; and ex-wife Judy Ziebell of Thiensville.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Greg.

 A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Poole Funeral Home and Crematory in Port Washington.
