Reception is Nov. 9 for Studio 224 exhibit

There will be an opening reception for the newest exhibit at Gallery 224 in downtown Port Washington from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Studio 224 exhibit includes prints, photographs and mixed-media works created by artists at the studio.

The exhibit runs from Nov. 9 through Dec. 28.

Studio 224, also in downtown Port, was  the vision of the late Jane Suddendorf, who founded Gallery 224. She conceived the idea of a working studio where resident artists could work individually and collaboratively. Suddendorf, a Port Washington high school art teacher and an artist in her own right, met with local businessman Dan Ewig and philanthropist Lynde Uihlein, who provided the space and funds for the studio.

Upcoming workshops offered this year include “Pretty Papers” with Tori Tasch on Tuesday, Nov. 19, “ProtoGravure” with Berel Lutsky on Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 14, and “Naughty and Nice Garland” with Tasch on Sunday, Dec. 29.

Gallery 224 is at 303 N. Franklin St. and is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
