Rebecca Rettmann

Rebecca A. Rettmann, 58, of Belgium, died of complications of kidney failure Wednesday, April 10, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

Ms. Rettmann was born in Milwaukee on June 29, 1960, the daughter of Margaret Jones.

She graduated from Coleman High School in 1978, and went on to earn a certificate in information technology from Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Ms. Rettmann worked in computer security for Frontier Technologies in Mequon, which later became Zions Bancorporation.

She was also a caregiver for her mother.

Ms. Rettmann’s brother said she was a plant enthusiast and an animal lover who owned an African grey parrot, Fritz, who has the vocabulary of a five-year-old, and a dog named Koko.

“When I was at her house after she passed away, I didn’t feel alone because the parrot would say the same phrases my sister and mother would always say,” he said. “The bird mimics them perfectly.”

Ms. Rettmann is survived by her brother Travis (Ellen Suelflow) Keshemberg of Pleasanton, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

A remembrance service was to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. The Rev. Scott Kruse was to preside.

Visitation was to be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the service.

Burial was to take place Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton.

Memorials to the Center for Animal Rehab in Waukesha are suggested.
