Random Lake picnic is July 28 to 30

The Random Lake picnic will be held from Friday, July 28, through Sunday, July 30, at the Fire Department grounds.

The event will include live music, dart and cornhole tournaments, bingo, a garden tractor pull and a car, truck, bike and antique tractor show.

There will also be a parade at noon on Sunday.

The focus of this year’s event is on organ donors and recipients. The parade marshal is Ginger Aschenbrock, a heart transplant recipient, and the parade will feature donors and their families.

“We really want to emphasize to people how important it is,” parade organizer Nancy Jacoby said. “It’s something that’s out of sight, out of mind, but there are so many people who need help.”

Fire department members will be wearing and selling shirts that stress the message of organ donation, she said, and they will hand out information about donations.

The message is an important one, she said, noting that one of the department members was a donor about six years ago.

On Friday, the picnic will include a performance by Smoke Road from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Bingo will be at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be Wisconsin arm wrestling at 1 p.m., and local participation is encouraged.

The dart and cornhole tournaments will begin at noon, with registration from 9 to 11 am. For information about the dart tournament, call (920) 980-5928 and for the cornhole tourney call (920) 905-5879.

There will be a garden tractor pull at noon featuring mini-hot rods, bingo at 5:30 p.m. and music by Tool Shed Band.

On Sunday, the car, truck, bike and antique tractor show will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a bounce house, bingo at 1 p.m. and music by Legends Alive, a show featuring Ritchie Valens, Patsy Cline and Elvis impersonators.

There will be music by DJ Roundy before and after the show and by the GoodTime Dutchmen at 2 p.m. Bingo will be played at 1 p.m., and a raffle drawing for a grand prize of $1,000 will be at 6 p.m.

But the focus on Sunday is the parade, which will feature the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.
