Providing food and fire safety too

The Port Washington Food Pantry rolled out a new program this week, providing smoke detectors to clients who don’t have them. The pantry will not only provide the detectors, its volunteers will install them if the client can’t and will provide batteries for the devices. The initial funding for the program came from the Port Washington Fire Department, which contributed $150. On hand when the donation was made were (from left) food pantry volunteer Tom Caravello, director Pat Kozak, firefighter Mike Didier, Food Pantry President Phil Groothousen and firefighters Adam Lanser and Sam Lorge.                         Photo by Sam Arendt
