A princess, a pea and a lot of mattresses

Northern Ozaukee School District performers on Monday put the final touches on their production of “Once Upon a Mattress” ahead of four shows this week at the district’s Fine Arts Center in Fredonia. The musical comedy based on the classic fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” tells the story of Princess Winnifred who must prove her royal birth by passing a sensitivity test devised by evil Queen Aggravain if she is to marry the queen’s son, Prince Dauntless, and come to the rescue of Lady Larken and Sir Henry. Playing lead roles in the district’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” are Savanna Lorge as the minstrel, Sierra Voigt as Queen Aggravain, Peyton Mueller as King Sextimus, Emma Becker as the wizard, Westdyn Schroeder as Prince Dauntless, Peyton D’Amato as Lady Larken, Ieva Judeikis as the jester, Owen Klaus as Sir Henry, Clara Steinert as Winnifred, Kate Michael as Princess #12 and Nightingale, Leighton Schmitz as Lady Sowena, Elenor Lenz as Lady Merrill, Natalia Marini as Lady Lucille, Miah Robinson as Lady Rowena, Lila Lentz as Lady Mabelle and Felix Cain as Sir Studley. Performances will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. Tickets purchased in advance are $8 and $7 for senior citizens and can be purchased in the Ozaukee Middle School office. Tickets at the door are $10.
