President to have opponent in village race

Saukville Village President Barb Dickmann will have an opponent in her re-election bid this spring as Trustee Trevor Seitz announced his candidacy for her seat.

Seitz, who was elected to the Village Board in 2018, said he is running to help lower taxes.

“Saukville has one of the highest mill rates in the county, which means it’s more expensive to live here than in other places,” he said. “It’s time for a change.

“The infrastructure has been built around that kind of taxation, but we don’t want to reduce service.”

Seitz retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years. He  has lived in the village since 2002.

Dickmann was elected village president in 2003 and has shepherded the village through a period of growth in both the residential and commercial sectors, including Ansay Development’s proposed 99-acre Northern Gateway mixed-use project north of Market Street and east of I-43.

Unopposed in the April 6 election will be incumbent village trustees Richard Belling, Andy Hebein and Dave Maglio.

In the Town of Saukville, Chairman Don Hamm filed a notice of noncandidacy and will not be on the April ballot. Plan Commission member Kevin Kimmes filed to run for the post and is unopposed.

Also unopposed are town supervisors Curt Rutkowski and Michael Denzien.
