Preparing to sweat for vets

The eighth annual Sweat4Vets walk will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, and a contingent of the event planners gathered recently to publicize it. They included (front row, from left) Jennifer Schwab of Associated Bank in Grafton, Lauren O’Desky of Oasis Senior Advisors, Doralee Piering of the Cedarburg American Legion, Sandy Mack and Maggie Geiger of the Cedarburg American Legion Auxiliary, Ann Wissmueller of the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary, John Timothy of New Life Church, (back row) Carolyn Halvorson, Angie Dedlow and Amy Luft of the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary. New Life Church, Oasis Senior Advisors and Associated Bank are event sponsors. This year’s Sweat4Vets will benefit the Wisconsin Veterans Network, which helps at-risk veterans receive the benefits and programs they are due. Registration for the event, a walk from the Rose-Harms American Legion Hall in Grafton to the Peter Wollner Post Hall in Cedarburg, is $35 before May 1 and includes a T-shirt, lunch, music and raffles, as well as shuttle service. There is no fee for veterans, although they must register. Packets can be picked up at the Grafton Legion Post from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 16, or beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. For more information or to sponsor the event, call (414) 651-7300. Information and online registration may be done at sweat4vetswi.com.       Photo by Sam Arendt
